Baptism record shows Joseph William but he always used Joseph S. Do not know what the "S" stood for. Frances' notes say possibly Steven. Sponsors were Edward McFeely and Joanne Thompson.
Seperated many years before his death, from his wife. The house had 5 bedrooms one he slept in, one his wife Henrietta, and one for each of their children. Lived in Ft. Erie Canada for years in his later years. Came back to live at Indian Orchard Place again. Then moved out a short time before his death to 251 West Ave, Buffalo, NY.
Member of the Moose Lodge #8. Buried in Sec K Lot 149. Buried from St. John the Evangelist Church.

His hobby was bicycle racing as a young man and he won many races in Buffalo, NY.
Lived at home at 222 Grey St. in 1890.Was said by one family member to be the meanest man she'd ever known.
His grandson Donald Mc remembers going over to his house when he was young. They had to sit and stay put. They were not allowed to touch anything. If they did anything that he didn't like, he would give them a cold mean nasty stare.
They lived on High St at the time in what was known in Buffalo as the "Fruit Belt", and they had no driveway. Lived on Isop St. Buffalo, NY. Had the toilet with a wood box up above with water in it.Remember he smoked cigars.
He was a carpenter and cabinet maker, then a shoe salesman. His occupation in 1895 listed on daughter Caroline's birth record lists him as a Schreiner.
11. Maria Margaret Roller-Welte
Lot 106 Sec LL Says "Mary Striegel" nee Welte on tombstone. Welte was the name of her Godfather Franz Welte,who raised her and her siblings after their parents both died when Mary was a few months old.
Sec B Div 8 Grave 19. No gravestone. Lived at 46 Hickory St. in1859 (first year showing up in Buffalo City Directory),1863 at corners of Austin & East, worked as a cooper. 1890 living at 346 Best St., working at 191 Clinton St. Buffalo, NY. Was living at 2166 Bailey Ave. in 1902. LIsted as an Asssembler at 121 Domedion St., Buffalo, NY. in 1926. Was living with a Catherine, but not married, was apparently only seperated from Mary Kalis. Family lore has it that Mary caught him cheating on her. Lived at 124 Nevada St., Buffalo, NY at time of death. Family did not seem to put an obituary in the newspaper for him.
13. Mary J Kalis
Sec K Div 8 Grave 11 Buried from St. Martin's Church, in Holy Cross Cemetery, (no gravestone), not to far from her husband, but not in the same plot, they were seperated. Listed as a "widow" of Bartholomew (this may have been when they seperated), and living with son George at 228 Hamburgh St. in 1916, (husband did not die until 1935) and at 1132 Abbott Rd. in 1926. In 1902 on Elmer's birth certificate it states that Mary had 7 children, now all living, but Elmer was the 5th. She must have had 2 others that died later. Lived at 1838 Abbott Rd., Bflo, NY at time of death. Certificate shows youngest daughter Mildred lived there also. Death certificate also shows Cardio - Renal- Vascular Syndrome as secondary cause of death. News paper said she died suddenly. Her and her brother are listed as "other" living with John and Johanna Kalis, although a "John Kalis" is listed as her father on her death certificate. They appear to be more at an age of grandparents than parents, maybe an aunt and uncle? (Check on this further).
14. William T Moore
Occupation is Engineer (Stationary) on 1900 census living at the Sea Wall foot of South Michigan St, no house #'s. Owned own home there. Listed as a sailor on daughter's 1902 birth certificate, living at the North Sea Wall. Listed as an Engineer again in the Marine industry on 1910 census living on Wall Street (The Beach), this is the same as the Sea Wall.
Rented home at 268 Miami St, Buffalo, NY in 1920, for $22.00 mo.
